Rossi di Albizzate

Giuseppe Rossi

Giuseppe Rossi was born in 1909. In 1923 he worked in the family business with his brother Felice, producing and marketing mattresses, upholstery, and saddlery. In 1935, Giuseppe Rossi, having separated from his brother, founded the eponymous company in Cavaria (Varese) with his wife Maria Saporiti.

In 1939, he recieved the first of a long series of patents: the armchair-bed. In the early ‘50s the production and the family moved to Albizzate, and in 1980 the company’s name changed in Rossi di Albizzate. In the same years the company started collaborating with important architects and designers.

An important turning point for the company was its inclusion in the Italian Design Museum at the Milan Triennale. In 1961, Rossi di Albizzate was among the founding subjects of the Milan Furniture Fair, holding the position of Vice President for many years.

The ‘60s were rich in innovative experiments, and in the mid-’70s the company showrooms were opened in Milan and Rome. In the early ‘90s, there was a generational transition with the involvement of the sons Luigi and Piero, and new collaborations with various designers began. In 2022, the brand was acquired and entrusted to the company Luxur-IT.
